It's still an annoying event that IS insignificant but hearing the quote each week and having other events blocked is more annoying than it is a real threat to anything. Im nearly at week 50, high infestation, but only one hero with the curse. The slight stress reduction in stress reduction facilities is barely negligible. Going into the new areas when your rooster is barely adequate however is ill advised. Besides you get to enjoy the added content of districts and the flagellant, aside new trinkets and quirks. Nothing bad gets activated until you send your team to foray the new areas, so it's fine.

I levelled mine full roster mostly to 2 before I ventured into both the CC and COM expansions which is about week 25ish.
